Redesigned, Refreshed and Reimagined: Behind the Scenes of Our Refurbishment

A New Look for a Milestone Year

This year, The Dressing Room turned 20 — and what better way to celebrate than with a complete transformation of our store? After two decades of style, community, and friendship, it felt like the perfect time to refresh our space and take it into an exciting new chapter.

Scandinavian Style Meets Personal Vision

The refurbishment has been inspired by my love of Scandinavian design — clean lines, natural textures, soft neutral tones, and a sense of calm that makes shopping feel like a joy, a place in which you want to spend time. Over the years, I’ve gathered ideas from my travels, taking note of the beautiful, functional, and inspiring spaces I’ve experienced around the world.

Bringing those influences home, I personally designed every element of the new interior with valuable input from my team. From the choice of wood finishes to the placement of lighting, furniture and plants, every detail has been thoughtfully curated to create a store that feels both modern and welcoming.

What’s New Inside

  • Light-filled, airy spaces that let our collections breathe.
  • Natural materials and textures to create a warm and calm atmosphere.
  • Redesigned display areas for effortless browsing.
  • Inviting fitting room areas where you can relax while trying on pieces.
  • Reimagined cashdesk area and drinks station.

A Fresh Space, The Same Heart

While the look is new, the heart of The Dressing Room hasn’t changed. You’ll still find your favourite brands, personal styling advice, and a warm welcome from the same friendly faces.

Craftsmanship & Details That Matter

Handcrafted, sustainable statement lighting, including a breathtaking giant oak butterfly pendant created by Tom Raffield in Cornwall.

Beautifully Handcrafted artisan made Rattan pendants sourced from British company Lightsin hang above the cashdesk for a light, airy feel.

Reeded Wood Furniture by Vaunt Design, designed in Nottingham and chosen for its simplicity, beauty, functionality and sustainability.

Oversized, sustainable wooden mirrors by William Wood, designed in Cheshire, adding warmth and a sense of space to the redesigned fitting room areas.

A bespoke cash desk, designed by myself as a stylish focal point of the store using ecofriendly wood.

Hanging planters, steam bent and sustainably handmade by Layer Tree in Suffolk, bringing life and greenery into the store.

Thoughtfully placed storytelling touchpoints throughout the store, sharing the heart of The Dressing Room and highlighting our values in a way that celebrates what makes us unique. Installed by our friends at local company Fonteyne Signs.

Finishing touches such as the new cashmere coloured hourglass planters in our doorway, sourced from Scandinavian interiors company Ferm Living and wooden display bowls throughout the store.

Fresh New Colour Scheme

Using our signature plaster pink as our base colour I worked with the team at Farrow & Ball to bring a fresher, more airy look to the store. The colours we used are:

  • Setting Plaster in Dead Flat finish – The dusty plaster pink used on our feature walls and fitting room interior walls, this is our Dressing Room signature colour which is used on all of our packaging and signage.
  • Dimity in Dead Flat Finish – Named after a lightweight cotton fabric, this soft, delicate off white gives a calming atmosphere to our fitting room areas.
  • Oxford Stone in Modern emulsion – a paired back neutral used on our fitting room doors and woodwork.

Come and See for Yourself

We’d love you to step inside and experience our Scandinavian-inspired new home for yourself. Whether you’ve been part of our journey since the early days or you’re visiting for the first time, you’ll be greeted with the same passion for fashion that has defined The Dressing Room for 20 years.
