Behind The Scenes: Copenhagen Fashion Week

Previous Next

Copenhagen Fashion Week has developed into a real ‘must see’ over the last few years. Deryane and I have just returned from a truly inspiring trip, where the fashion was fabulous, the atmosphere was buzzing, the décor was to die for and the people were pretty awesome too!

Our heads (and feet!) are frazzled with all the information we took in and full of inspirational ideas from the fabulous Danish City, where everything is super stylish yet executed in the most relaxed manner.

Our trip started with a very early morning alarm to arrive bright and early at the beautiful Villa Copenhagen hotel, with its stunning décor and sublimely scented (by The Dressing Room favourite Scandanavisk)  we instantly felt transported in the cool scandi vibe and were ready for our first fashion week stop, The Skal Studio Fashion Show.

This is a brand we don’t currently stock, but we’re kindly invited along to view the collection. Small Studio is a brand that is all about ‘Striving for a better fashion Industry’ working hard on sustainability, using  mainly natural and recycled materials. It was a very cool show in a open warehouse set up, showing off their relaxed, chic collection very well.

We flowed out of the show amongst the crowd of influencers and fashions elite  (best people watching ever!!) and made our way to our next destination, The Munthe HQ. On arrival at we were met by the wonderful Jo, who gave a sneak peek of the new collection ahead of the big Fashion show the next day. Ladies it is stunning! If you’re a Munthe fan, you’re going to love it and if you haven’t invested in the brand so far, this could well be the collection to turn your head.

The showroom is beautifully laid out with supersized campaign images on the walls and rails hanging from the ceiling showcasing the new A/W24 collection at its finest. With a nod to a western/ranch theme there are lots of tassels, denim and some beautiful prints, all exuding the effortlessly super cool vibe that Munthe always does so well. Jo and The Munthe team couldn’t have been more lovely and the visit just built our excitement for the big Show the next day.

As we exited the showroom we had a quick browse around a few beautiful interior stores, in which we wanted to buy everything!! But realising we couldn’t possibly get it all back in the plane we resisted and headed straight to our next destination, our buying appointment for Ganni!

New to The Dressing Room last season Ganni has been a hit, so we entered the appointment with weary legs but great anticipation to see what A/W 24 had to offer and it didn’t disappoint!! In super edgy Ganni styled the brand teamed up with local artists, so there was a mini gallery set up to walk through, before we went into our appointment which created a very cool arty/fashion vibe throughout the place.

The collection has updates on all the Ganni favourites, with some great new t-shirt and accessory designs. Plus some interesting collection pieces, knitwear and possibly some super cool outerwear making a debut at The Dressing Room for A/W24, so keep your eyes  peeled!

We then returned to our hotel and just about made it out for a lovely relaxing dinner before we returned to get some sleep ready for our second day of Copenhagen Fashion Week.

After a very scrumptious breakfast (the Villa Copenhagen  hotel has its own bakery! So the  fresh pastries were on point!) we set off eagerly to attend The Munthe A/W24 Show. The atmosphere as we arrived was absolutely buzzing, the street was crowded with fashions finest, cowboy hats, head scarfs and lots of embellished denim was doned by the crowds that were excitedly waiting to be seated.

We were lucky enough to have great seats and all the people watching in the build-up to the show was extremely entertaining; phones taking pictures every second and some even had people following them round to ‘light’ them as they posed for their all-important social media images! It definitely felt like this was the show to be at and I must say it was breath taking. The room went completely dark, then music started blaring and gradually the light cube in the centre of the room came alive with stunning video images. All along that Ranch theme, the images rolled as the models started  to descend onto the catwalk around the light box, the whole experience was awesome. I felt very privileged to have been a part of it and to see the collection presented in all its fabulousness!

We basked in the buzz of it all for a while then made our way to the CIFF trade show. It’s a huge space showcasing many beautiful brands. We saw a few of our wonderful existing brands there such as Day Birger et Mikklesn, Essentiel Antwerp, American Vintage, A Beautiful story and also looked at done new brands that may be coming to The Dressing Room soon. After a whole day of walking, viewing and talking we headed back to the hotel for a quick freshen up before heading to the Stella Nova store for a little drinks party!

The coolness continued in every sense, the beautiful Stella Nova store was crammed with people, a DJ was playing, and cocktails were flowing. It was really fun and great to meet the fabulous team behind the brand who were super welcoming and complimented  Deryane and The Dressing Room team on the recent Stella Nova window display we did, which apparently has bee be all the talk in their offices over the past week!

So, there’s more I could say about our experience there, but you’ve definitely got the highlights, a really fabulous trip taking in all the stunning fashion and all that  the beautiful city of Copenhagen provides. We cannot wait to bring some influences from there  to The dressing Room and for you to see the exiting new collections that are to come, I’m sure they are not going to stick around for long!!
