Everyone loves a little peek behind the scenes, and following on from our Meet the Team page, we thought we'd share a day in the life of our lovely Assistant Store Manager, Charley, so that you can see what she gets up to at work. We shadowed Charley and captured snapshots of her throughout the day, from opening up to managing the team and serving customers.
As part of the Management Team, Charley opens the store first thing in the morning; coffee in hand (make it a decaf for Charley!) and mind already buzzing with ideas and plans for the day ahead. She'll typically nip straight to the office to discuss plans with Deryane, collate figures and lists of 'to-do's, before heading down for the morning team meeting. She's usually sporting a Rixo blouse or Essential shirt; you can shop Charley's Edit below if you love her style!
The morning meeting sees the entire team together on the shopfloor for an overview of the previous few days, targets to achieve and any tasks to get done throughout the day. It's usually a bit of a giggle with the nutty bunch we call the DR team...there's never a dull moment! New deliveries or brands that have arrived are discussed with styling tips and the team are always creating neverending wishlists the moment they arrive...there's always lots of "that's amazing!" and "I NEED that!" shrieked first thing in the morning...!
Everyday at The Dressing Room is different for every team member, but typically Charley is hands on, styling up customers on the shopfloor, or merchandising new pieces that have arrived (because we just can't wait to get them out!) If you've made an appointment on our Style Me page, Charley might be the stylist who helps you find something perfect from our gorgeous collections.
All that styling is hungry work, and when lunchtime arrives, all of us love a natter in the staff room, often with a cup of tea & a chocolate biscuit (or two, because biscuits never last long here!) A favourite on a Tuesday is to 'guess who's on the cover of Grazia' before we flick through on our breaks, and Charley (actually, the whole team) love a cute photo of a dog on Instagram...
The afternoons involve more styling, more merchandising, and sometimes you'll find Charley training staff members, new and old, on brand knowledge or progression in their roles...there's always something new to learn, and always a giggle to be had! Charley trained as a Florist before starting at The Dressing Room, so she's known for her green-fingers and always helps with our plants and flowers in store. Sometimes she'll dash across the road to The Flower Box, which you'll spot on our Visit St. Albans Page, to select some of the flowers for the store or events and goody bags that are in the pipeline.
It's always busy and never dull at The Dressing Room and we've got a lovely bunch that buzz around the shop with lots of variety and excitement in their roles.
