COPENHAGEN FASHION WEEK IN PICTURES

When did Copenhagen become the Fashion week to go to?  I can’t put my finger on the exact time, however, I have been attending on and off for the last 15 years and have seen it evolve from little sister to understated Matriarch in terms of style and influence.  The difference is that Copenhagen fashion week is fun, it is about individuality and it doesn’t take itself too seriously.

This August myself and Charley spent a very full 2 days attending runway shows and trade shows both for inspiration and serious order writing.  We kicked the trip off on Monday evening, arriving at 6pm and then straight to the Stella Nova ‘Fruit Farm Boss Lady’ event at their new HQ in central Copenhagen.  The event was super fun with a drinks cart serving Hugo’s and a table decorated with lemons, bread and branded butter, (of course).  We took advantage of the fun selfie machine and enjoyed a Summers evening with the Stella Nova team.  We then headed over to Delphine’s for dinner, which was all about sharing plates with a Greek theme. It was a great choice (thankyou to our friends at Oldstrom agency for all the restaurant tips!). 

Tuesday we were up and out early to attend the Dea Kudibal ‘Moments of Grace’ event, a truly beautiful celebration of the work and craftmanship that goes into creating a collection.  Dea took inspiration from attending the Ballet and understanding the dedication and hard work that goes into the world of Ballet and likened this to creating a piece of clothing – the detail, the quest for perfection and the beauty in each piece.  Ballet dancers danced throughout the lawns and the house, which was an installation of the ‘world of Dea Kudibal’.

We then had an hour to enjoy the City centre, browsing the boutiques and streets of Copenhagen.  Discovering and exploring the uniqueness of the City as we went.

Then a quick outfit change and time to head over to the Skall Studio show held in beautiful Copenhagen gardens.  The show, entitled ‘La Piscine’ was a celebration of the beauty of Summer and drew reference from the 1969 film staring Jane Birkin.  The influence was felt across the show with styling including wicker basket bags, soft florals and linens.  Sadly, the weather did not hold out and we watched the show from under green Skall Studio umbrellas.  IT did not deter the fashion crowd, turning out if force on their bicycles looking wonderful.  An eclectic mix of toned down, neutral vibes alongside bright and vibrant outfits. 

Next up it was time to head to CIFF trade show for the serious business of placing orders and seeing suppliers.  The theme this season was ‘The Swimming Pool’ and was all around how people gather and have fun at the Pool, similar to a Danish trade show!

That evening we headed over to Vaerskt restaurant, a secret garden greenhouse that blends modern urban design with lush nature. The food focuses on fresh Nordic ingredients, truly  delicious in a beautiful setting.

Wednesday, back to CIFF trade show for buying and discovering, then the finale of the trip was the incredible Munthe SS27 show.  And what a show it was, truly breathtaking as the models walked amongst huge painted drapes.  The styling was impeccable as ever, with layering really giving an individual element to each look.  Hair and make up was soft, fresh and glowing.

The crowd?  Super fashion, and looking incredible.  We loved every minute of it.

The key take aways from the trip?  The Scandi’s do laid back luxury so well.  It is all about the detail, the effort and the lifestyle in everything they do.  The smallest flower placed in a vase, the perfect fresh ingredients, the tiniest puff of a sleeve or shoulder.  It all matters, yet the balance is just right and nothing feels forced.
