The Dressing Room are a key UK stockist for Scandinavian footwear brand Woden and we are delighted to have been chosen for a Woden UK pop up event in store on Saturday 27th April.

About the Brand:

Founded in 2013 by Carsten Holm; a shoemaker with a long history in the shoe industry. The name Woden means ‘Works of Denmark’ and their ultimate vision is to fuse nature, Scandinavian design, and trainer DNA to create fashionable yet reasonably priced footwear. Woden emphasises Scandinavian design principles, utilising top-quality natural materials and offering excellent value. Woden shoes are meticulously crafted for urban life, embodying a blend of fashion, functionality, and anatomical considerations, all with an underlying concept of "Scandinavian Simplicity." Whether braving the elements or enjoying long sunny days, Woden offers footwear solutions for every season and occasion. From trendy everyday sandals and trainers of uncompromising quality, to durable Woden boots for chilly weather, the brand ensures that functionality never comes at the expense of personal style. The Line sandals are a particular loved style with their adjustable straps and a naturally soft midsole. Equally loved are the Ronja trainer; a runner style with a recycled fabrication and moulded Eva sole.

Materials:

Woden has a great respect for nature and the environment and is committed to sustainability, following a mantra of "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle". They prioritise eco-friendly practices by integrating materials like fish leather and incorporating at least 10% recycled rubber in their outsoles, along with eco-friendly cork insoles. The fish leather used in Woden trainers is a by product of the Icelandic fishing industry (whereby only 1% of the skin is actually used). Fish skin is known for its durability and sustainability, this is due to the unique cross fibre structure of the fish leather and makes it 10 times stronger than calf leather. The tanning process used also produces 0% carbon emissions.

Technology:

Woden's Natural Soft technology, developed over two years, ensures maximum foot comfort. You will find this 3 layered foot bed in the brands boots and sandals giving you maximum support and stability.

CORK INSOLE: Their cork insole features a unique airflow system which makes them breathable

MIDSOLE: Made from a soft foam material called polyurethane which is lightweight and shock absorbing

CUPSOLE:Specially developed by Woden, this frame holds the shoe and adds strength and stability. It is made from rubber and is all sustainably sourced.

Where are Woden shoes made?

Each Woden trainer includes more than 115 components from different facilities however most Woden trainers are manufactured in Vietnam, adhering to strict quality control measures. Woden ensures fair employment practices for its workers globally. The Woden HIE (Handmade in Europe) line is crafted in Portugal, known for its tradition of producing high-quality leather shoes.
