Behind The Scenes: Becksondergaard New Season Training

Our Friday started off with some fun this week as Kam, a Becksondergaard representative from Brand National agency popped over to the store for some training. Having stocked Becksondergaard for many years and being the official UK online partner, it’s safe to say we’re familiar with the ins and outs of the brand, but it’s always key that we’re up to date with product knowledge.

Team DR all love Becksondergaard – you’ve probably seen us all sporting a Becksondergaard scarf at some point! – but since establishing in 2003, the founders Lis Beck and Anna Sondergaard have developed the brand from scarves to something much more. It actually all started with the Granny Purses; a rainbow collection of eel skin purses that were inspired by the duo’s trip to Seoul and are well-loved at The Dressing Room. Don’t let eel skin throw you though, it’s a popular alternative to leather often used across the globe, and Kam assured us that it is ethically sourced as a by-product by Becksondergaard.

A little tip we learnt about caring for your Granny Purses – the eel skin takes to dye much better than other fabrics, and if you gently rub the purse it will revive the colour to its original lustre.

Becksondergaard’s DNA is based on the mantra ‘rebellious love’ and this is reflected in the brand’s designs. Combining colour, print, and quirky hand-drawn designs, Becksondergaard exudes a fun personality and creativity in its products. Since establishing a reputation in the industry with gorgeous scarves and eel skin purses, the brand has gone on to develop a wide remit of products including leather bags, capes and most recently even socks to add a little sparkle to your outfit (which are already proving popular here at the DR!)

The new collection is beginning to arrive, including new Nylon bags and makeup pouches with beautiful bright prints that make travelling light more fun!
