Trend Alert: Contrasting Hues with Nooki Exclusive

Previous Next

Have you seen the latest video to feature on The Dressing Room TV? Deryane talked through the latest trends to hit the shopfloor (which are swoon-worthy, so go and take a look!) and among them, was the combination of pastel pinks and deep burgandies and reds. This contrast in hues is something that is perfect for the transition between Summer and Autumn. Wear the pastels alone now and gradually introduce deeper and richer tones as the Autumnal season draws in.

This is where our exclusive Nooki cape comes in. Bursting full of rich colour in the Birds of Paradise print, the exclusive design encorporates our signature Dressing Room print of nude tones, perfectly encompassing the aforementioned trend. Better yet, Nooki's signature capes are so versatile. . .throw on over a bikini for instant poolside glamour, or wear over a cocktail dress for the ultimate Summer evening look. As Autumn creeps in, team it with a basic tee and a pair of jeans and boots.

The Dressing Room has stocked Nooki for several consecutive seasons now and each year we love it more and more! To celebrate the creation of our exclusive design, we quizzed the brand's designer duo, Cat & Thuy, for a little insight behind the Birds of Paradise cape.

1. What made you want to create an exclusive design with The Dressing Room?

Thuy – the idea for the collaboration was actually Deryane’s really, she suggested doing an exclusive print just for The Dressing Room, this was on the back of a fabulous couple of selling seasons.  We at Nooki really appreciate DR championing new brands and Deryane was such a great supporter of our capes that we decided to give it a go.

2. What inspired you to create the print featured on our Exclusive Nooki cape?

Thuy - The Bird of Paradise print has been on our radar for a while and I have always wanted to use it.  The final design is in fact a composite of 3 prints – the main one being the bright floral “the bird of paradise” which is the underpinning print. Then there is also another mixed tropical orchid and palm print which is overlaid that both softens areas and brings out the vibrancy to the print underneath.  The final print is the DR “rain” print which I have placed on the top which brings the whole design together and gives the cape its exclusivity.

We are really happy with the final result and love its’ exotic beauty and intense colours and just the tropical feeling that it evokes

3. How best do you both like styling your Nooki capes?

Thuy - Both Cat and I are casual/comfort girls and love to wear our capes up with jeans and a solid colour tank. We wear them when we go out and if we go to pick our kids up from school, we love the versatility of these capes and they are building up quite a following at the school gates!
